13 y.o. Zyklun customer Adrienne's Zyklun Moment
It was November of last year, and I had just finally gotten my
ollies down (I had been skating for a month). I was so excited, that
I decided to go to my local skatepark and see what it had. There
were a few other guys over there, and they ripped. I was so stoked
seeing them skate, that I asked them their names, wondering if they
were pros. They came over to me and said, "Listen little girl, we
don't like you over here, so why don't you get the hell out." I was
pretty confused. You see, I don't like to get pushed around. I'm not
one of the girls who dresses in pink all the time, but I'm also not
one of the girls who dresses like a gangster and acts like a thug
who smokes crack and is "da shit". So I said back to him, "Listen, I
don't like jerks over here, so why don't you get the hell out." It
didn't sound pretty cool or witty at all, but it shut them up. After
that moment, though, it fueled me to get better. I can now say that
my 7 month progress has been sick. I can kickflip, boardslide,
varial, and almost tre down pretty big sets, I'm learning a bunch of
tricks switch and nollie, all that good stuff. I don't really care
if I'm still considered a grom or whatever, I just know that it
feels good representing a sport that isn't too common for girls, and
it also feels good that I've found a sport that makes me feel like
an individual and that I can express myself.
